This is how it always is by Laurie Frankel

This is how it always is

By Laurie Frankel

This book made me see through someone else’s point of view, someone who has a life far different than what I have. Who’s struggle is opposite than what I am going through. There are books whose character we understand, we root for , we envied. But this one , it completely opened my eyes, it made me see colors. And although I may never experience the life of its protagonist, maybe we are , as humans, are more alike than we are different.

A black and white line of thought does not have a place in the modern society. Somethings. Many things actually fall around the edges, like strings spilling out of labeled boxes. And so, this new age keeps telling us to be more tolerant, to erase boundaries because lines are starting to blur. We can learn to adjust, albeit in slow hesitant pace but how about them. The ones who’s one toe is already off the cliff? The ones who hold their breath, shaking with fear waiting for us to truly accept?

Do we really have to hold their fate in our hands? Why do we have to be the one’s to give them validity? Why do we have that privilege? Why do they have to stand underneath the rain as they wait for us to offer them an umbrella?

This book is a fairy tale. Not just because of Poppy but because of her parents. I may not agree with all of their parental choices but they are in the process of learning the ropes of life as well. Having five boys is a circus. Chaotic, overwhelming but its an adventure. It made me want to have five rowdy boys in the future. Poppy was sure of herself from the very beginning. But the real world just wasn’t ready for her, not ready for her tea-length dress and fairy wings. This shows that society could really ruin someone, create doubt, instigate confusion and fuel self-hate. Society could not deal with color. Although her family have really been her shield, she has to leave their womb. She needs to bruise in order to heal. She needs wounds so that she can have scars. Scars, marks that will help her learn. We all need to be let down, to learn lessons from gravity.

Penn’s book was truly the pleasant surprise for me. Of course it would make sense that Grumwald was Stephanie. Why didn’t I see that. It was obvious , kudos to the writer.

Task II

Today, universities are accepting different kinds of students, this led to debates whether students who are academically gifted and those who are young should only be admitted or if universities should also enroll students of all ages and those who do not do well in school. This essay supports the claim that students, regardless of age and academic performance should be allowed access to education because education is a human right and knowledge should never be monopolized.

To begin with, during the formative years of people, it is imperative for them to receive the best services and facilities that universities could offer. Furthermore, it is a fact that most students who are exposed in a competitive environment with equally intellectual students excel greatly in academies. For instance, Seoul University, a top university in Seoul South Korea, is known to only admit students who graduated with outstanding marks in high school. Their graduates were able to make names in Science, Trade and Technology.

Despite the aforementioned argument, Education should be accessible to all age group since this is a basic right. Anyone who aims to study shall be allowed to learn if they are willing to learn. In addition, there should never be a monopoly of knowledge and it should be given to individuals with diverse backgrounds, economic status, ethnicity and academic performance. To illustrate, in the Philippines, Vic Morales , a 55 year-old, recently graduated from the University of the Philippines. Aside from his age, he also gained recognition from the academic world since he is the first who graduated in the university who belongs to an ethnic tribe in the Philippines.

In conclusion, Education should never be limited to the young and intelligent individuals, it should also be shared to anyone regardless of age and academic performance because it is human right and knowledge should never be monopolized.

No-chance

I am often burdened to remain nebulous due to my fear of recognition. However, there are no words enough that can simply conceal my feelings of resentment because hell it is happening the emergence of the no-chance phenomena.

I can hear my bones creak at its weight, my flesh shivering againts its coldness. Cold and utterly heavy, this sickness is draining all my hope and vigor.

And i am left enervated.

Yuzuru On Ice

I must admit, my knowledge in figure skating is comparable to a pebble, if not dust.

However, talent and passion reverberate so loudly in the dark that an expectator has no choice but to turn his head and be rendered speechless by the weight of impact.

Yuzuru Hanyu happened and I’m changing my lane.

Fade Out

I am immune. I have been taking the blow since I developed conciousness. But I just wont learn a lesson. I used to believe that this is okay, I can live with it but time can alter anything and damn it changed my sentiment beyond scale.

Maybe its  because im very comfortable behind the scene that when I find myself in the middle of action I shy away to the background.

I wish I can share the heaviness of this pain, I can only ventilate little by little not entirely and it only makes a tad bit difference.

I must admit, I am not a fast learner with this one.

Begin Again

I am currently facing a massive setback towards my carreer. The investment that I poured, both in money, effort and time had been wasted due to my failure. Surrendering , however , is a trait that I aim to defeat that is why I have to rise even when my knees are breaking. I need to triple my labor and faith in order to surpass my target.
